HydrogenReady: Burgerhout flue venting solutions available for hydrogen appliances
Burgerhout is leading from the front in the Flue venting and ventilation Market. That why we are prepared for what the future holds. For example the switch from natural gas to hydrogen. Our HydrogenReady flue venting systems are capable to be connected to (partial) hydrogen appliances.
Burgerhout has asked Kiwa Apeldoorn to judge the suitability of the applied materials for the use in Hydrogen appliances. The conclusion from the rapport is that plastic systems are capable of being used in Hydrogen appliances, as was also the case in our own research. By being HydrogenReady Burgerhout does its part in working towards a CO2 neutral future with sustainability as end goal.
What is HydrogenReady?
We are in the midst of a huge energy transition, appliance manufactures, energy suppliers and network operators are researching if the current infrastructure is sufficient and which modifications are needed to convert natural gas appliances. Currently multiple field tests are being undertaken in Europe for which Burgerhout is one the biggest suppliers of systems for these tests. With these test results we are getting a lot of information and in addition to the Kiwa validation we have a 100% assurance for the appliance. The natural gas appliance needs a couple changes to work safe and fault free. Burgerhout products are good to go now it’s the manufactures turn.
What is hydrogen
Hydrogen is the smallest chemical element according the periodic table. Hydrogen can be seen as a energy carrier with the wind and sunlight as sustainable energy sources. If energy generation occurs with these sources you get green Hydrogen. Sadly we are not ready to fully convert to hydrogen. Just as in car fuels it is possible to combine natural gas with 20% hydrogen without the need to adapt existing appliances. This mix already contributes to a lower C02 emission. Our systems can also handle these kind of mixtures.
other renewable gasses
the energy transition is in full swing more and more boilers are hybrid, HybridReady or even (partially) capable of hydrogen combustion. But the application of different renewable gasses are part of the energy transition solutions. For example green gras is a good alternative but is not being highlighted as a good alternative. Green gas is made by bringing biogas to the quality of natural gas. This is a common practice in Holland and is silently being implemented into the Dutch gas grid. This green gas and natural gas mixture has the same properties as natural gas that’s why Burgerhout systems are automatically suitable for green gas.
Burgerhout contributes to the energy transition in several areas and is ready for the future. By applying our HybridReady and HydrogenReady products, we take the step towards ‘The Green Connection’ with sustainability as the ultimate goal.
